Participation
Is there a cost associated with the Weeks of Welcome activities?
All WOW events are free for all University of Alabama students. Just bring yourself and we’ll provide everything else!
Do I have to join University Programs in order to attend WOW events?
No. We are a department on campus whose sole purpose is to create a space for students to connect outside of the classroom. All you have to do is show up!
Do I have to attend Weeks of Welcome?
All new students are encouraged to participate with WOW. Attending WOW events is the best way to meet people and become better acquainted with campus and university resources before classes start. Each day features key events designed to meet the diverse interests of UA students. Taking full advantage of WOW will help you get the best start at the University of Alabama!
What if I cannot attend a WOW event?
Although there is no penalty for missing WOW, you are encouraged to attend as many events as you can. WOW activities are designed to meet the needs of new students and help them become more familiar with the campus, community and other UA students.
Can I still participate in WOW if I am participating in Greek recruitment, marching band camp, on an athletic team, or have other extracurricular commitments?
Although many WOW activities may conflict with recruitment or other events, there are a number of activities offered at various times. You should still be able to attend some events even if you are involved in other activities during the week.
How do students living off-campus participate in WOW events?
Students living off-campus are welcome to participate in any of the WOW events. Please see the WOW schedule for times, locations and transportation recommendations. We recommend that off-campus students park in their designated parking lots and utilize Crimson Ride to get to the events.
